“Looking in”
Lower Manhattan Cultural Council
New York
2002

The installation was conceived for the “Looking In” exhibition, which took place in downtown Manhattan one block north of the former World Trade Center, where a high-pressure cleaner shoots green-coloured water from the inside against a shop window every minute for 30 seconds. The jet creates a continuously changing flow structure at the interface between the exterior and interior. Then the jet stops for half a minute and an empty black room with a shallow green pool of water becomes visible. The water disappears through a drain in the centre of the basin and is recycled. The installation is illuminated from above at night.

Fluorescent dye, water, high-pressure cleaner, timer, plastic panels, pond liner.

The installation was made possible thanks to the kind support of Kärcher.
